Turn a Paperclip Into a Powerful Act Of Hope!

Welcome to the Epilepsy Association of Calgary’s Trade Up Challenge! Inspired by the story of trading up from a paperclip to a house, our campaign aims to engage the community in trading items of increasing value, ultimately donating the final item to support epilepsy programs and services.

Give us something better than our current trade, or start your own Trade Up Challenge!

Step One: Accept the Challenge

We will mail you a trade-up sheet, information on the charity, and a purple paperclip to start your trading journey.  Why purple? It’s the color of epilepsy awareness.

Address(Required)

Step Two: Start Trading

Trade your purple paperclip with family and friends. Remember, you must get something bigger or better with each trade.

Tips for Successful Trading:

    • Be creative and think outside the box.
    • Use social media to reach a wider audience.
    • Share your progress and trades using the hashtag #tradeupchallenge.

End Goal:

    • You decide the end goal, but the higher the better. Aim for something meaningful that can be sold to support epilepsy programs.

    Step Three: Complete the Challenge

    • When you have traded up as far as you can go, it’s time to turn your best trade into cash and donate the proceeds to Epilepsy Calgary.

    • Send us your trade-up list and a picture of your item. Sell your item on your favorite marketplace, or contact Epilepsy Calgary for pickup.

    • Pickup Conditions: Items should exceed $100 second-hand value. Pickup is at the discretion of Epilepsy Calgary, based on volunteer availability and our ability to sell the item. Size or weight of items may limit what we can pick up, and we are unable to enter anyone’s home during pickup.
